Fall is always the best time of year in Southport and Oak Island.  Bright sunny days, fewer crowds, stunning sunsets and cooler weather make outdoor activities better now than any time of year.  For those that only see our area during peak vacation months, take a weekend and come down to visit.

This building lot on the Intracoastal Waterway  is only a short walk to the marina and dry stack storage in St. James. If you have ever considered a waterfront building lot, in a premium neighborhood, take a look at St. James Plantation conveniently located just outside of Southport and within minutes of Oak Island.  There are a limited number of waterfront building lots available in this neighborhood, so don't miss out. Clicking on the 2835 Harborside Way below opens a video showing location of this property along with other homes on Harborside Way.

The three pictures were taken in October and show the blues and grays of late afternoon, turning brilliant orange as the sun drops below the horizon.  The shot of the fishermen was taken a short time after as the light changed to various shades of purple and pink.

Currently under construction are the new Lowe's Foods  shopping complex at the corner of Long Beach Road and Highway 211.  A new CVS there is already completed. Other projects include the renovation of Hampton Inn across from RiverMist and new Publix Food Store well under way on Oak Island. The Publix picture is of a completed store.
