| THE FIRST WAVE SYSTEM HAS BEEN APPROVED IN A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND METHANE AVOIDANCE PROJECT |
|
|
|
Last week we were thrilled to announce the successful registration and verification of a first of it’s kind methane avoidance project at Skyridge Farms by the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas (GHG) crediting program: the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). This remarkable achievement comes as a result of Skyridge Farms' dedication to sustainable dairy farming and their implementation of LWR’s patented First Wave system.

As we celebrate the dairy sector throughout the month of June, it is important to recognize the producers who are doing the heavy lifting to establish new sustainability standards for the industry. This accomplishment for Skyridge Farms reinforces their commitment to environmental stewardship and secures their position as a leader in low carbon dairy production. Congrats to Skyridge Farms on this outstanding achievement, and on their continued contributions to the dairy sector! |

In June, I had the opportunity to speak at the Argus Sustainable Fertilizer Americas conference, addressing the topic of nutrient recycling and its role in a sustainable circular economy. During the event, I gained valuable insights from key discussions aournd the importance of improving nitrogen efficiency, prioritizing farmers in corporate sustainability goals, securing funding for sustainable fertilizer projects, and exploring new market spaces like green ammonia.
A notable takeaway was the increasing emphasis on low or zero carbon fertilizer, particularly in ammonia and nitrogen production. This trend will result in carbon prices impacting fertilizer prices in major markets. Geopolitical events continue to significantly affect the fertilizer industry. Additionally, the ongoing exploration of the potash basin in a deforested area of the Amazon by Brazil will potentially impact global supply and demand dynamics as mineral harvesting progresses. Finally, there were insightful discussions on US policies aimed at strengthening domestic fertilizer supply, highlighting the various programs that have been implemented in the past year.
To learn more about the conference, or how you can transform manure into two distinct, high value fertilizers, let's connect! |

The California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) has announced the return of the Real California Excelerator competition, created in partnership with innovation advisory VentureFuel.
As the largest global dairy accelerator, the program seeks anyone building any product made with at least 50 percent dairy, including, but not limited to foods, beverages, personal care products, packaging, material sciences, textiles, pet products, or anything else using dairy in an innovative way. |
| New partnership will build a low carbon ethanol plant in southwest Michigan to add needed biofuel supply and help lower the dairy industry’s carbon footprint.
Dairy Distillery has developed a technology to transform a lactose-rich dairy byproduct, called milk permeate into vodka, aptly named Vodkow. This high value use of milk permeate caught the attention of MMPA as it looks to create more value for its dairy farmer members. This partnership is expected to offset 14,500 tonnes of carbon a year, reducing the carbon footprint of the milk processed at its Constantine facility by 5%.
